Math in the Real World helps students apply mathematical thinking to authentic, real-life situations while strengthening problem-solving, reasoning, and analytical skills appropriate for upper elementary learners.
Students move beyond isolated computation to explore how mathematics is used in everyday decision-making, design, finance, science, and data analysis. Through project-based learning and collaborative challenges, students learn to interpret information, evaluate solutions, and apply math with purpose and confidence.
• Multi-step problem solving and mathematical reasoning
• Real-world applications involving budgeting, measurement, and data analysis
• Fractions, decimals, ratios, and proportional thinking
• Mathematical modeling and practical decision-making
• Applied geometry and spatial reasoning
• Collaborative projects connecting math to science, engineering, and real-life scenarios
Instruction emphasizes conceptual understanding, strategy development, and clear communication of mathematical thinking. Students learn not only how to solve problems, but how to explain their reasoning and evaluate multiple solution paths.
Math in the Real World prepares students to think flexibly, apply mathematics independently, and recognize the relevance of math as a powerful tool for understanding and navigating the world around them.

Songbirds Studio builds confidence and communication skills through performance, storytelling, and expressive arts.
Students explore:
• Dramatic play and character development
• Script reading and storytelling
• Stage movement and vocal projection
• Collaborative production projects
• Creative writing for performance
Each semester culminates in a live performance experience, giving students the opportunity to share their work with peers and families in a supportive environment.
The focus is on confidence-building, teamwork, and growth through the creative process. We emphasize collaboration, resilience, and creative expression — valuing the journey of learning and preparation over a polished final product.
Through rehearsal and performance, students develop communication skills, empathy, and the courage to step into the spotlight.
This is a combined, school-wide class that brings together students ages 6–12 to collaborate toward a shared final performance experience. Because students work collectively as an ensemble across multiple age groups, class enrollment may be larger than our typical courses, and the student-to-teacher ratio may exceed our standard 14:1 ratio. Additional instructional support and assisting staff are present to ensure students receive appropriate guidance, supervision, and meaningful participation throughout rehearsals and performances.
Tuesday & Thursday| 11:00–12:30 AM
