The 2024-2025 RCS Middle Program is designed to meet the needs of students Grades 1-2 and 2-3.
Charter funds may be used to offset the full cost of the program. A 10% sibling discount is available for full-time students.

We encourage full-time participation for the many benefits this program provides. Students develop a sense of community, build stronger relationships with their peers, and gain tenacity in returning to challenging social and academic endeavors daily.
Full-Time Middle Program Fee: $9,135/year, $1,015/month. Charter funds may be used to offset the full cost of the program.
CORE PROGRAM ONLY
Tuesday to Friday
9:00 AM - 12:30 PM
Daily morning gathering includes community building through movement and games.
Social-emotional learning is part of our core curriculum. We support students’ social-emotional development by cultivating perspective taking, problem solving, and working together.
Math
Hands-on activities that build on early math concepts: number sense, measurement, logic, estimating, graphing and problem solving.
Develop math fluency through questioning, observing and applying understanding in an atmosphere of curiosity and play. Focus is on individual perspectives and approaches to solving problems.
Language Arts
Command of high frequency words.
Play word games that actively engage students in practicing high frequency words and spelling patterns.
Read and write poetry to discover language patterns while developing fluency and inflection.
Creative writing, illustrating, and publishing books by exploring the topics that interest them.
Use writing and reading for a purpose with a blend of student-choice and teacher directed activities.
Edit, revise, and practice spelling conventions and grammar through one on one teacher conferences tailored to students’ needs.
Social Studies/Geography/Cooking
Through emergent curriculum, we will use student interest to guide our units of study.
Each unit will incorporate geography, animals, and culture through active engagement.
Learn about our place in the world through community. What makes a community? How does a community thrive?
Budding chefs will learn kitchen skills: preparing, cooking and trying new foods and learning about dishes from other cultures.
Each of us has a story, through food and cooking, we will have the opportunity to explore our individual cultures, the cultural traditions of our classmates and the world as a whole.
Core Program Fee: $7,040/year, $782/month (September to May). Charter funds may be used to offset the full cost of the program.
AFTERNOON ONLY OPTIONS
Tuesday & Wednesday
In the musical theater education program, students learn the four major elements of musical theater performance: songs, spoken dialogue, acting, and dance. Students build props, design the stage set, and manage the behind-the-scenes aspects.
STEAM Workshop is a maker-centered class that invites students to apply critical thinking and innovation skills to solve problems through design and STEAM.
During Art, students explore the world of colors, shapes, and self-expression with a range of mediums and materials. Hands-on and process art develops and enhances fine motor skills.
Through team building activities, students work on communication and collaboration to increase their sense of empathy, community, and belonging.
Program includes one hour of Open Play before class to support social emotional development: perspective taking, problem solving, and working together.
Cost: $2,190/year, $243/month (September to May). Charter funds may be used to offset the full cost of the program.

Thursday & Friday
Learn life skills while actively participating in the farm-to-fork process: seasonal planting, farming, harvesting, preparing, and selling at RCS Farmers’ Market.
Investigate the world through experiments: predicating, collecting, testing, and analyzing.
Class includes one hour of Open Play before class to support social / emotional development: perspective taking, problem solving, and working together.
Program Fee: $2,190/year, $243/month (September to May). Charter funds may be used to offset the full cost of the program.
We offer 10% sibling discount when you register for full-time.
We accept Charter School vouchers as well as personal installment payments or a combination of the two.
Our approved homeschool charters: Cottonwood, Sequoia Grove Alliance, South Sutter, Horizon, Harvest Ridge, and Sutter Peak.
