Please note: We recommend that children start our Kindergarten program when they are at least 5½ years old by September. However, we recognize that each child is unique, and we are open to assessing if a younger child is ready.

Social and Emotional Learning
At the core of our Kindergarten program is a deep commitment to nurturing children's social and emotional development. We believe that strong emotional foundations are essential for lifelong learning. Through purposeful play, we guide children in building emotional literacy, self-regulation, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills in a supportive and joyful environment.
Learning Through Play
Play is the cornerstone of our learning approach, especially in our younger classrooms. Our thoughtfully designed spaces invite children to explore a variety of concepts across literacy, math, and science. We use a research-based, Science of Reading-aligned literacy program to ensure each child is building strong early literacy skills grounded in phonemic awareness, vocabulary, and comprehension.
Interdisciplinary Learning
Our learning environment comes to life with immersive, thematic units that reflect children's natural curiosity—like ocean animals, animals in winter, Earth and space, insects, plant life and more. These units weave together academic learning with hands-on exploration and discovery.
Community and Connection
Gathering times are central to our day and serve as a time for connection, community, and shared learning. We sing songs (often accompanied by the ukulele), read stories, play group games, and engage in meaningful conversations about the children's interests and the needs of their peers. These moments build a strong classroom community and encourage empathy, cooperation, and curiosity.
Meet Students Where They Are
Throughout the day, we offer literacy and math experiences in both large and small group settings. These activities are thoughtfully tailored to each child’s developmental level and interests, fostering meaningful and individualized learning. We approach each child not as a vessel to be filled, but as a whole person—complete and capable from the moment they arrive.

Purposeful Play
Our Kindergarten afternoon program is rooted in the belief that children learn best through active exploration and meaningful play. Each day, students spend ample time outdoors—climbing trees and engaging in imaginative games. The yard becomes an extension of the classroom, where movement, curiosity, and connection come together.
Workshop
Inside, children dive into process art, hands-on investigations, and open-ended play. Through projects in our free build workshop and creative exploration across materials, children are encouraged to think critically, solve problems, and collaborate with their peers. This play-based, inquiry-driven approach nurtures both independence and a love for learning.
Music Theater
We also offer a musical theater program where students explore singing, acting, dancing, and storytelling. This fun, collaborative experience builds confidence and encourages self-expression. The program culminates in a special performance for friends and family, celebrating the students' work and creativity.
Cooking
Additionally, our chef will visit monthly for hands-on cooking projects, giving them the chance to explore ingredients, learn basic culinary skills, and experience the joy of creating and sharing food together.
