🌿 Expanding Vision. Strengthening Focus.
Hawks are known for their focus and wide perspective. Learners at this stage begin seeing the bigger picture — connecting ideas across subjects and taking greater responsibility for their learning.
The Hawks Program challenges students with advanced literacy, mathematical reasoning, and complex project-based inquiry. Students build executive functioning skills, perseverance, and emerging leadership abilities.
This stage is about sharpening focus and expanding vision.

Hawks Program Classes
Ages 8–10 · 3rd–4th grade. Every class stands on its own or fits together into a full day. Mon/Wed/Fri classes are marked in blue, Tue/Thu in green.
Number Sense & Strategy
Builds flexible, strategic thinking with numbers through hands-on work and problems worth solving. Students reason through multi-digit multiplication, fractions, and decimals — choosing efficient strategies and explaining their thinking rather than following one prescribed method.

Literacy Lab
Grounded in the Science of Reading, this workshop carries students from fluency into analysis. They read closely across genres, research questions that interest them, and build multi-paragraph writing — organizing ideas, supporting claims, and revising with purpose.
Students build
Innovation & Culinary Lab
Science, teamwork, and culinary arts alongside a professional chef. Students measure and cook real recipes while investigating the chemistry behind them — and trace where food comes from, how it travels, and what it takes to feed a community.
Students develop
Songbirds Studio
A school-wide performing-arts ensemble open to ages 6–12, building confidence through theater, storytelling, and expressive movement. Students collaborate on a real production — reading scripts, finding their stage voice, and supporting one another from first rehearsal to final bow.
This is a combined, school-wide class, so enrollment is larger than a standard class and the ratio may exceed our usual 14:1 — additional staff are always present.

Ask, Discover, Explore: History
A journey through ancient civilizations and world cultures driven by student questions. Students map the ancient world, examine artifacts and primary sources, and step into cultural simulations that make daily life in another era feel close at hand.

Makers Workshop
Art appreciation meets open-ended design challenges. Students study how artists and makers solve problems, then take on builds of their own — sketching, prototyping, testing, and refining with mixed media and real workshop tools.
