Description: Get ready to move, think, and play! In Sports in Time, students will embark on an active journey exploring the history and evolution of modern sports such as basketball, pickleball, and tennis. Each session combines exploring the history of sports with hands-on skill-building, allowing students to develop their athletic abilities while learning the fascinating origins and changes of these games over time.
Whether you’re new to sports or looking to sharpen your skills, you’ll have opportunities to ask questions, collaborate with peers, and enjoy friendly competition. The program will culminate in a field day event where students can test their skills in all three sports in a fun and supportive setting.
Skills & Learning Objectives:
Understand the historical development of basketball, pickleball, and tennis.
Develop sport-specific techniques tailored to each student's level.
Enhance strategic thinking, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
Compare and contrast the evolution, rules, and play styles of different sports.
Special Highlights:
Hands-on practice sessions each week.
Student-driven exploration of sports history.
Final week field day at Cresthaven Park.
Materials Needed: Most supplies will be provided, but students are encouraged to bring comfortable athletic wear and water. Equipment for pickleball and tennis will be available on-site.
Note: This class requires a minimum of 5 students to run. Families will be notified if enrollment does not meet the minimum.
