Description:
Welcome to Art Studio—a gentle, step-by-step class where young artists build skills and confidence across a variety of mediums. Each week students create a new piece while learning how to break projects into clear, manageable steps so the process feels exciting rather than overwhelming. We’ll explore acrylics, watercolor, clay, fabrics, and texture art, and we’ll spotlight influential artists whose work inspires our lessons. The focus is on student voice and creative freedom, supported with thoughtful guidance.
Skills & Learning Objectives:
Develop foundational techniques in acrylic, watercolor, clay, fabric/texture art.
Learn art vocabulary (composition, color, line, texture) and tool safety.
Build creative confidence through a process-first approach and reflective practice.
Explore art history by connecting projects to influential and historic artists.
Special Highlights:
A finished piece each week with clear step-by-step instruction.
Mixed-media exploration: lighthouse “stained glass” acrylics, watercolor ocean/sun swirls, fabric sun rays, clay tealight ghosts, and more.
Projects designed for multiple ages with optional extensions for older artists.
Materials Needed:
Most supplies are provided. Students should bring a labeled water bottle and wear/bring a paint shirt or smock. (All other materials—paper, paint, clay, fabric, etc.—are supplied in class.)
