Description:
Step into the spotlight! In Musical Theater, students will build confidence and community as they take a production from first read-through to final performance. Each week blends acting, singing, and movement with the language of theater—blocking, cues, ensemble, and stage presence. We’ll explore on-stage and behind-the-scenes roles (props, costumes, set pieces), emphasizing process over product while working toward a joyful, polished show.
Skills & Learning Objectives:
Learn essential theater vocabulary and rehearsal routines (blocking, cues, ensemble work).
Develop voice, movement, timing, and storytelling through song and scene work.
Practice collaboration, focus, and problem-solving in a supportive ensemble.
Explore production roles (props/costumes/stage crew) and basic stagecraft.
Special Highlights:
Two rehearsals each week to deepen skills and ensemble chemistry.
Student input on staging, simple set/costume choices, and show promotion.
Final production on Friday, December 12 for families and friends.
Materials Needed:
Most materials provided. Students should wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes for movement; families may be asked to supply simple base costume pieces (e.g., solid-color shirt/pants) as we near performance.
