Roseville Community School (RCS) offers a multitude of hands-on opportunities that integrate language, math, science, history, and nature literacy through purposeful activities that engage students’ minds and bodies. Each enrichment class has a focus and will incorporate open ended play, integrated curriculum from all subject areas, and social emotional learning.

  • Hands on activities to support early math concepts: classification, sorting, grouping, and number sense that inspire exploration and curiosity.

  • Explore science through hands on inquiry based activities including gardening, farmer's market, cooking, and workshop.

  • Open ended activities, prompts, and themes to help inspire play, meeting young children wherever they are in their learning.

  • Support with social interactions: perspective taking, problem solving, and working together.

  • Offer an inspiring, safe environment that encourages risk taking: physically, socially and academically.

Language Arts

Kindergarten

  • Support fine motor skills, pre-writing, and language development through active participation in games, word play, journaling, story plays, and poetry.

  • Open ended activities, prompts, and themes to help inspire play, meeting young children wherever they are in their learning.

  • Hands on activities that inspire exploration and curiosity such as gardening, farmer's market, cooking, and workshop.

  • Support with social interactions: perspective taking, problem solving, and working together.

  • Offer an inspiring, safe environment that encourages risk taking, physically, socially and academically.

History Through Storytelling

Grade 1-2

  • Inquiry based learning method to explore cultures around the world through their fables, myths, and fairy tales

  • Read, retell, and perform stories from the past while making connections to the present.

  • Develop students reading, writing, research, and critical thinking skills as they gain a deeper understanding of history and society.

  • Incorporate and provide work samples for social studies, geography, and language arts.

  • Class includes a half hour of Open Play after the class to support social and emotional development: perspective taking, problem solving, and working together.

  • Open ended activities, prompts, and themes to help inspire play, meeting young children wherever they are in their learning.

  • Develop math fluency through questioning, observing and applying understanding in an atmosphere of curiosity and play. Focus is on individual perspectives and approaches to solving problems.

  • Class includes a half hour of Open Play before the class to support social emotional development: perspective taking, problem solving, and working together.

Innovation Workshop

Grade 1-2

  • Project based class invites designers, engineers, builders and scientists at all levels to create!

  • Apply lifelong critical thinking and innovation skills in the classroom and beyond while challenging them to solve complex problems through design-thinking and STEAM.

  • Use tools such as drills, hammers, saws, and recycle materials to design a blueprint of their proposed project and work in collaboration to translate to a 3-D creation.

  • Class includes one hour of Open Play before the class to support social emotional development: perspective taking, problem solving, and working together.

  • Changemakers will experience the power of making a difference through service-learning projects, letter writing and becoming informed.

  • Develop self-awareness, perspective-taking, relationship skills, responsible decision-making, and community engagement through shared challenges, personal inquiry, games, and discussions.

  • Promote greater understanding of one another, conversation, listening skills and integration of others’ ideas

  • Class includes a half hour of Open Play before the class to support social and emotional development.

  • Learn about the diverse nations of California Indians with a focus of legends. Explore how they depended on, adapted to, and modified the physical environment.

  • Use props, costumes, and primary literature sources to immerse ourselves in the past.

  • Incorporate and provide work samples for social studies, geography, language arts, and include field trips to Maidu Museum and Historical Site, Sutter’s Fort, and the State Indian Museum.

  • Class includes one hour of Open Play before the class to support social and emotional development: perspective taking, problem solving, and working together.

Language Arts

Grade 3-4

  • With history as a driving force, explore language arts through poetry, reader’s theater, historical fiction, and nonfiction texts.

  • Choose a research topic of interest, create 3-D models and other art forms to demonstrate understanding.

  • Creative writing during weekly Writer’s Workshop that allows students the freedom to discover who they are as writers while exploring topics that interest them.

  • Edit, revise, and practice spelling conventions and grammar through one on one teacher conferences based on student writing.

  • Collaboratively read novels and engage in book club discussions and create related projects.

  • Class includes a half hour of Open Play after the class to support social and emotional development.

We encourage full-time enrollment though discounted tuition. We see tremendous benefits for students that attend our four-day program. They are able to further develop a sense of community, build stronger relationships with their peers, and gain tenacity in returning to challenging social and academic endeavors daily.

Cost: $3,360

Note: Each individual class charges a $60 supply fee per semester except full time (4-day) enrollment.

We accept Charter School vouchers as well as personal installment payments or a combination of the two.

Our approved homeschool charters: Cottonwood, Sequoia Grove Alliance, South Sutter, Horizon, Harvest Rridge, and Sutter Peak.
