Homeschool Enrichment Programs
Roseville Community School (RCS) offers a multitude of hands-on opportunities that integrate language, math, science, history, and nature literacy through purposeful activities that engage students’ minds and bodies. Each enrichment class has a focus, however the three-hour class period will incorporate open ended play times, integrated curriculum from all subject areas, and social emotional learning.

Acorn Class
A primary learning experience through Play
Grade: K-1
Class Schedule: Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 9AM to 12PM
Acorn Class Offers:
- Open ended activities, prompts, and themes to help inspire play, meeting young children wherever they are in their learning
- Activities to support fine motor skills, pre-writing, and language development
- Activities to inspire early math concepts: classification, sorting, grouping, and number sense
- Hands on activities that inspire exploration and curiosity
- Support with social interactions: perspective taking, problem solving, and working together
- Offers an inspiring, safe environment that encourages risk taking, physically, socially and academically

Sunflower class
Learning and skill building through the lens of our natural world.
Grade: 1-3
Class Schedule: Tuesday and Wednesday, 12:00PM - 3:00PM
Sunflower Class offers:
- Open ended activities and prompts to explore
- Activities to support fine motor skills, pre-writing, and language development
- Activities to inspire early math concepts: classification, sorting, grouping, and number sense
- Hands on activities that inspire observation and investigation
- Support with social interactions: perspective taking, problem solving, and working together

Environmental Sciences Through Investigations
A depth of studies for 8-12 year olds based around the real-time active environment of our school garden and/or local Riparian Creek.
Age: 8-12
Class Schedule: Monday and Friday, 9AM - 12PM
Children with opportunities to immerse themselves in their natural world are motivated to make observations, create investigations, ask questions and are then in turn motivated to care about the world around them,becoming enthusiastic stewards.
Topics may include but are not limited to:
- Plant families
- Insects
- Water cycle and quality
- Soils
- Energy
- Birds
- Native plants and trees
- animals and habits
In addition to in-depth studies, students will actively participate in :
- Farming in the RCS Garden
- Harvesting, tasting, and cooking RCS grown produce
- Setting up and running the RCS Market

How to be a Spy
Exploring Language Through Creative Writing
This intensive spy-school program encourages descriptive writing, code word play, and imaginative reporting. Students will use their observation skills to first solve a mystery, then create their own by gathering intelligence and creating a case file. Included in the class is grammar instruction though exploring mentor texts, engaging group games and individualized instruction.
Grade: 2 to 6
Class Schedule: Tuesday and Wednesday
- 9AM - 12PM: Grade 4-6
Course may include independent reading book club selections such as Harriet the Spy by Louise Fitzhugh, Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz, and From the Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E.L. Konigsburg.
- 12PM - 3PM: Grade 2-3
Course may include independent reading book club selections.

That Sums it Up!
Building Mathematical Understanding with Games and Literature
Experience the power of mathematical thinking through games, play and investigations. Students will apply their developing mathematical understandings and number sense to grapple with real problems involving estimation, patterns, measurement and logic.
Grade: 2 to 6
Class Schedule: Tuesday and Wednesday
- 9AM - 12PM: Grade 2-3
A student-driven program engaging students in developing their math fluency through questioning, observing and applying their understanding in an atmosphere of curiosity and play. Focus is on individual perspectives and approaches to solving problems.
- 12PM - 3PM: Grade 4-6
A student-driven program drawing on the power of mathematical discussions to engage students in examining their understandings and applying them to new situations in an atmosphere of investigation and play. Using activities that encourage students to think visually about mathematics through exploring patterns within numbers, paper folding, cooking, building and designing. Focus is on individual strategies and divergent thinking to solve problems and strengthen mathematical thinking.

What’s cooking?
Experiencing Chemistry Through Food Science
If dancing spaghetti, edible slime, and creating a soda geyser sound like a good time, this is the class for you. You will cook and create with food while building meaningful connections to scientific concepts.
This course will incorporate multiple disciples in the learning experience. You will use your writing skills to record observations and express ideas, use technology to make new discoveries, and be motivated by challenges that encourage curiosity.
Grade: 2 to 6
Class Schedule: Thursday
- 9AM - 12PM: Grade 4-6
- 12PM - 3PM: Grade 2-3
Cost: $400
We’d Be Lost Without You!
Geography, Mapping, and Spatial Thinking
Students will map and explore places near and far, (like their own bedroom or Africa), as well as places real and unreal (story mapping of places like Neverland or the creation of their own campground).
This unit will integrate history, math, language, art, anthropology, earth science, and will be done through asking questions, creating projects, carrying out investigations, performing, presenting and teaching others.
Grade: 2 to 6
Class Schedule: Thursday
- 9AM - 12PM: Grade 2-3
- 12PM - 3PM: Grade 4-6
Cost: $400
Note: Each class charges a $50 supply fee per semester.
We accept personal payments as well as vouchers from your homeschool charter. If you wish to enroll your child and we are not a vendor of your particular program, we can work together to get on your program's vendor list.
